How Vai Models Was Born
Vai Models was founded in Texas in August 2024 with one belief at its core: talent should never be limited by someone else’s expectations.
Founder Sydney Sweeney knows that belief firsthand.
Before creating Vai, Sydney fought her way into the modeling industry in New York City after hearing the same words aspiring models hear far too often: “You’re too short.” “You’ll never be a model.” “It’s not going to happen for you.”
Instead of accepting those words, she used them as fuel.
After countless no’s, Sydney found her yes. And that yes opened the door to commercial sets, television, runway, and opportunities that proved one thing: sometimes, all it takes is one person willing to see your potential.
That realization became the foundation of Vai.
Sydney saw an incredible amount of untapped talent right here in Texas. Models with the look, presence, drive, and potential to build careers far beyond what they had been told was possible. She knew they didn’t need someone to simply tell them they could model. They needed someone willing to develop them, advocate for them, submit them, place them, and fight for opportunities alongside them.
So Vai was born.
Since then, Vai has worked to develop and place models with top agencies, including Wilhelmina and ONE Management LA, while continuing to build a stronger modeling industry from its roots in Texas.
But Vai is about more than simply signing models.
We build careers.
We develop talent. We create opportunities. We connect models with the right people, brands, agencies, and platforms. We believe in finding the potential that others overlook-and turning that potential into something undeniable.
Our vision is rooted in Texas, but our ambition has no borders.
Vai exists to elevate Texas talent onto a global stage while creating meaningful opportunities for models and brands alike.
Because every successful career starts somewhere.
Every model has a first opportunity.
Every brand has a first breakthrough.
Every career has a moment when someone finally says yes.
Vai is here to be that beginning.
